  The 2025 Polaris 9R Switchback Assault 146 is a versatile 50/50 on- and off-trail crossover snowmobile known for its lightning-fast throttle response and significant low-end torque delivered by the new, lightweight Patriot 9R "big bore" engine.   Key Features and Specifications

• Engine: It features the naturally aspirated 899cc Patriot 9R, a liquid-cooled 2-cylinder engine with an estimated 185 horsepower. The engine uses low-inertia components like a lightweight crankshaft and pistons, and CNC-machined ports, resulting in 7% more power and up to 12% more torque than the 850 Patriot engine.
• Chassis and Suspension: Built on the lightweight Matryx platform, it offers a narrow cockpit for improved rider connection and control. The suspension system includes:
  • Front Suspension: Matryx Front Suspension with WER 2" Velocity shocks and 9.5 inches (24.1 cm) of travel.
  • Rear Suspension: Uncoupled IGX 146 rear suspension with a tipped-rail design to enhance cornering and flotation, featuring WER Velocity shocks and 16 inches (40.6 cm) of travel. This uncoupled design allows for easier ski lift for off-trail playfulness.
• Track: The snowmobile can be equipped with either a 15 x 146 x 1.352" R Cobra or a 15 x 146 x 2.0" Crossover track, allowing riders to tailor performance to their preferred conditions.
• Technology: Key technology features include the 7S Display with Ride Command Technology for navigation and vehicle information, and Smart Warmers for the hand and thumb warmers.
• Design: The sled has a dry weight of approximately 502 lbs (228 kg) and is available in different color schemes, including a new cranberry matte finish or Ghost White Metallic. It also offers modern accents like optional RGB lighting for handguards and under the hood.

  Riding Experience The 9R Switchback Assault is designed for maximum fun and versatility, performing well on groomed trails and in deep snow. The engine provides immediate, "on-demand" power, comparable to a turbo engine without the added weight, making it highly responsive out of corners and capable of easily lifting the skis. The premium Walker Evans Velocity shocks ensure a smooth and controlled ride across varied terrain.
